Scrapbooker's Blog Tour

I apologize for being a day late on getting this blog post up! I have been tagged by Penny: http://www.pennyscraps.blogspot.com/ to do the Scrapbooker's Blog Tour. I am honored that she chose me! She is a local scrapper that I have had the pleasure of scrapping with on several different occasions.

Q: What am I working on now?
A: I am about to finish Allison Davis' 6x6 Sketch Class. I have just recently started participating in a challenge with many other scrapper friends on a forum based off of Lisa Bearnson's "50 Moments - Scrapbook the Pages that Matter Most" book. Here is a layout I did for the topic "Words to Live By:

Q: How long does it take me to create a project?
A: I would say on average it takes me about 1 to 2 hours to complete a layout. Every now and then I am able to whip out a layout in an hour or less.

Q: What are my favorite things to create with right now?
A: Lately I have really been loving my Silhouette Cameo! As far as scrapbook collections go, I am currently loving Simple Stories Homespun and Echo Park's Creative Agenda. Enamel dots have been a favorite embellishment!

Q: How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
A: To become inspired I usually look at other scrapbooker's layouts on Pinterest and galleries. I am also inspired by music - song titles, lyrics or song meanings.

Q: What is my signature style?
A: My layouts tend to be clean and simple. I don't always use very many embellishments, but when I do, I still keep it simple. Every now and then I get a wild hair and do a "more involved" layout with stitching and more embellishments than normal.

For the blog hop I have chosen to tag Monica: http://monicalifeasme.blogspot.com/! We met online about 6 years ago and have been friends since. We were lucky to be able to meet in person 4 years ago. I absolutely love her scrapbooking style and I know you will too! Look for her blog post to go live next Monday, October 13th!

CREATE Magazine

Many of you may already know about this monthly online scrapbook magazine, but if you don't, you really should check it out! Scrapbook Generation started doing this online magazine in January of this year. Each month they feature: new sketches, a scrapbook manufacturer and fun facts about them, layouts/cards/tags from the manufacturer's design team, layouts/cards/tags from Scrapbook Generation's design team AND they have a reader's gallery in each issue. You can create a layout/card/tag based on the sketches put out that month and submit them to possibly be chosen to be featured in the magazine! I have been featured in two different issues and it has been such an honor! I really urge you to take advantage of this free magazine, every issue is chock full of amazing inspiration!

Here is the link where Scrapbook Generation posts each issue of the magazine:

You can find me featured in the February issue on page 216 and 222, and also in the June issue on page 210.

Enjoy!

June Scrapbook Generation Blog Hop!

Scrapbook Generation Blog Hop

Welcome to the Scrapbook Generation Blog Hop for June. If this is your first stop, you might like to start at the Scrapbook Generation blog and then hop through each link.

Here is the layout I am showcasing for this Blog Hop:

Lately I have been working on scrapping my childhood photos. It has been so fun being able to use paper collections that I don't normally get to use since I don't have any kids of my own yet. I really enjoyed scrapping with Echo Park's Hippity Hoppity Mini Collection. It has been perfect for all of my childhood Easter photos!

The sketch I used was originally from a Super Saver Club Kit that I got a while back. It is fun to use them over again on other layouts!

You can find the SG sketches in their books and as downloads in the SG store, and there is a free one every month in case you wanted to try it out.

Next on the hop is Michelle, leave a comment on each blog and one lucky commenter will receive a free sketch bundle of their choice from the store. The winner will be drawn on Monday, June 9th which leaves you one week to leave a comment.

March Scrapbook Generation Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Scrapbook Generation Blog Hop for March. If this is your first stop, you might like to start at the Scrapbook Generation blog and then hop through each link.

Today I am sharing one of my one-page wedding album layouts with you.

I used a sketch from Sketches for Scrapbooking One-Page Sketches Volume 1. I pretty much exactly followed the sketch. This sketch is nice because it is very simple, yet wonderful! I decided to keep my layout simple, but you could definitely add a lot of embellishments if you wish to. For my wedding album I am using the SEI White Elegance collection. The papers have a gorgeous pearl treatment. Here is a close up so you can see:

Scrapbook Generation Blog Hop - December

Welcome to the SG Blog Hop for December, if this is your first stop, you might like to start at the Scrapbook Generation blog and then hop through each link.

Here is my layout:

For this quarter's Blog Hop I decided to do a one page layout. I drew inspiration from a sketch in the Sketches for Scrapbook One-Page Sketches Volume 1 sketchbook. I love using this sketchbook when working on one page layouts. It's also easy to use for two page sketches - just carry the design to the second page! I decided to have a little fun with mist on the background. Also, how cute is the Elle's Studio "Cute as can be!" tabbed tag?! Love it! Great addition to a layout about my sweet parakeets.

You can find the SG sketches in their books and as downloads in the SG store, and there is even a free one every month in case you want to try it out.

Next on the hop is DEVRA Leave a comment on each blog and one lucky commenter will receive a free sketch bundle of their choice from the store. The winner will be chosen on December 9th, so you have one week to leave a comment.

Layouts Galore!

I have been so awful at keeping this blog updated. I really need to work on that. This time of year is usually pretty busy, so I'll blame it on that ;).

I want to share some layouts I have created over the past several months. I belong to an awesome scrapbook message board and a big group of us have gone through the Allison Davis classes together. We have been doing this since May of this year. We started with Sketch Support and have also done the 6x6 Paper Pad Class and Photo Arrangement Replay. It has been a TON of fun! I really enjoyed learning from the class material and seeing everyone's layouts, what they learned from the class and their own personal style and touches. I can't wait to do more classes in the future! I'm going to share a few layouts I created from each class.

Sketch Support Class:

6x6 Paper Pad Class:

Photo Arrangement Replay Class:

Thanks for looking at my layouts and I hope you enjoyed them!

Please stay tuned and get ready for another Scrapbook Generation Blog Hop that starts tomorrow Monday, December 2nd!!

Scrapbook Generation Blog Hop - September Edition!

Welcome to the SG Blog Hop for September, if this is your first stop, you might like to start at the Scrapbook Generation blog and then hop through each link.

Now that it is September; school is back in session, the Texas heat will soon be dying down (I hope!) and this means that summer is coming to a close very soon. I thought it would be fun to do a little re-cap of my favorite things from this summer. I absolutely adore the Simple Stories "I {heart} Summer" collection, so it was an easy decision to use that line for this layout. It is so colorful and fun to work with! The way I did the paper behind the title is a lift from a scrappy friend, Maria (Tinkgumby) - isn't it a great idea?!

The sketch I used for this layout is from the Sketch Fusion sketch book. I am in love with this sketch book and it is so versatile. It was made in conjunction with Simple Stories collections, but it is so easy to adapt and use other scrapbooking manufacturers as well.

You can find the SG sketches in their books and as downloads in the SG store, and there is a free one every month in case you wanted to try it out.

Next on the hop is Steffanie, leave a comment on each blog and one lucky commenter will receive a free sketch bundle of their choice from the store. The winner will be drawn on September 9th, so you have one week to leave a comment.
